If you’ve missed me, that’s because I’ve spent the last week in Taiwan, and then recovering from a serious bout of food poisoning (or suspiciously, stomach flu) that lasted well over three days starting from the day I left Taiwan. Any sort of transportation undertaken while in the condition I was in only serves to become … Continue reading »

24 hours in Madrid on foot
Spend an Hour or Two at La Puerta del Sol On a weekend, you can see a lot of Madrid life pass you by at the Puerta del Sol, the “Gate of the Sun” in Spanish. Here is where the iconic Oso & Madroño (Bear and Madrone tree) statue stands, if you are so inclined to pictures … Continue reading »
Watch as the world moved along at a pace of its choice
Along Paddington street, Sydney. We’d tucked into a café just a few steps from where I took this picture Some time ago my phone rang out of the blue with an unknown number. The voice that spoke to me over the phone was male, joking, and a little overly familiar for my liking. “How are … Continue reading »
Toledo on your two feet
Toledo has a special place in my heart, and my partner’s, considering the very near heart attack we got in Toledo. We drove in to the little town on an afternoon much like any other and parked our rental down a hill near a sightseeing spot along some other cars. We looked around, went for … Continue reading »
mercadinarium
One thing Spain teaches you is to love markets. To absolutely love going to the market, having a café con leche in the morning or a beer in the evenings, and then savouring the atmosphere, the crowds, the piping hot tapas. This is all that much more pronounced in winter, when everyone huddles at the … Continue reading »

a stroll on this side of the quai, Paris, France
Paris is special. Every little bit of it from any angle’s something different, doused in ultra cool and a little of the macabre. Funny thing though, Paris means less of romance than of mystery; don’t you think? We took this walk after the hefty meal we had at Le Trumilou, soaking in the sights and … Continue reading »
walk with me
When I’m in town and not lugging around a DSLR as I do when I’m travelling, it’s just handy to take snaps on the iPhone every now and then. It’s almost therapeutic in between posts when I’m cleaning up holiday shots or images for recipes. Are you on my trail yet? Walk with me at … Continue reading »
Travelling
Tumblr is great for unearthing such gems. Always great to paint a picture of words with a picture. I couldn’t help but smile when I saw this; it’s exactly what I feel when I’m travelling, one of the most immediate feelings I get when I step off a plane, and always what I feel when I do my favourite past time: sitting at a café people watching, with an inward smile.
Your true traveller finds boredom rather agreeable than painful. It is the symbol of his liberty – his excessive freedom. He accepts his boredom, when it comes, not merely philosophically, but almost with pleasure.

the little overview of our journey to Spain-France 2012
Spain wowed me, with its tongue twister language, spoken with vivacity and at its most intense, with passionate tenacity. It wowed me, with its offal dishes swathed in magical sauces, amazing grills with the silkiest of meats and the freshest seafoods practically leaping off the ice-packed stalls in their intoxicating mercados (Spanish for markets), or … Continue reading »
